PROJECT BRIEF

BRIEF – Signed by Client (DaVor)

In this project, our group decided to design based on Contempory Architecture Office concept. With the idea of openess, that allows all the staff to communicate better and maximise the function of small space. The space will include the reception area with small waiting room. Then we have one medium meeting room that located beside the reception area, the purpose of it is to have easier access of clients to meet and discuss with our staffs. We also have small 3D model making room near the meeting room. So that, clients could see the proposed projects/ buildings and get the feeling of gallery exhibition. The rest of the room will be the working station and free hand drawing corner with only light dividers to service rooms, such as storage (materials, fittings, etc), kitchenette and utilities which directly lead to back door of the office that be function also as loading dock and emergency exit. Therefore, the flow of access could be achieved by divided the function of rooms without give the pressure of limited space. To conclude, this space will be designed not only to accomodate the teaching activities but also for drop-in design studio.

Notes:
-        Meeting room, is it really need to build a saparate room?
-        The current facade, give pressure of imprison, what possible solutions for it?
-        Possible outdoor area?

Logo

Thank you Francis for made logo options. I prefer the first one, its nice & simple, the second option is quite confusing to read.

Feedback

Yeah, I think both of your opinions are right. However, we must wait for stefanie opinion, and let`s meet at campus at Monday to discuss the project. By the way, could you bring any materials related to the project. Hopefully in Monday we can sketch some ideas for the space. And don`t forget the logo.

Francis's preference

hi,
I agree with Alvin that the space would be great for the design view.

but my preference is T06  Staff offices Level 5.
Since this is the Technology subject, i think the office has got more works for all of us (Electrical, Mechanical and Hydraulic + arhcitectural) can produce drawings / documentations and show more things in detail rather than a design (as we were told the greatest design is not required).
so we can more focus on documentation and specifications more and more and more and moooooore :)

and for your info..
i've got some drawings of supermarkets has got all info of Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulics etc.. so we can have a look at symbols we can use and layouts etc...

Preference

I understand what Avlin is saying but my preference is the last choice T06 SoD Staff office.

If we do the exhibition / function space, we would enjoy the designing the spaces but it would be very hard to show the mechanic, electric or hydraulic part.

In staff office case, we can create the design faster and then have more time to concentrate on technical parts.

I think we can show more detail parts in this space. As we know, design is not that important.

Alvin preference

My preference is the Exhibition/ Function Space in D Block 1st level. In my opinion this place is a potential place to exhibit the student work since it is an area that open to the artisan cafe and also an entrance to the D Block. This place must be bypassed by the student, therefore if we make an interesting exhibition place, obviously student will come to the exhibition.
